• What is diabetes?

Diabetes occurs due to a disorder of metabolism. People of any age get diabetes. The body does not produce sufficient insulin or use it properly. So it leads to high glucose in the blood.

What we eat, is broken down into glucose energy (a form of sugar in the blood). This blood glucose is very important for the proper function of the body. This glucose moves from the blood to body cells for growth and energy. But in this insulin plays an important role for glucose to get into cells.

Insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas. When we eat the pancreas produces enough insulin to carry glucose from the blood into the cells. Those people having diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin so blood glucose (sugar) does not get into the body cell. It passes out of the body in the urine. Body cells find unable to grow and produce energy which is very important for healthy living

A regular blood sugar check-up should be done. Say no to sugar liquid, juice, food and rice.

The most important is Yoga exercise, fast walking, and jogging to keep your blood sugar levels controlled.

  • Yoga to Control Diabetes

Kapalbhati Pranayama is excellent pranayama to cure and control diabetes. Those having high diabetes should practice for 10 – 30 minutes daily in the morning and evening on an empty stomach.  High blood pressure and heart patients should practice slowly. 3 exhalation in 6 seconds only.
